Carriage Collection - Eugénio de Almeida Foundation
Located in the former Évora Cathedral’s granary, the Carriage Collection gathers the carriages, their harnessing and travel utilities and other means of transport used from the second half of the 19th century to the early 20th century by the Eugénio de Almeidas, one of the most powerful and influential families in Portugal during the period. Visitors will also appreciate the setting – the Old Castle of Évora – where the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation is based, featuring the emblematic Paço de São Miguel (São Miguel Palace), which was the residence of the royal court in the city during the first dynasty, with its remarkable 16th-century series of profane-themed frescoes.
