This romantically inspired scenic construction known as “Ruínas Fingidas” was designed by José Cinatti. Architectural materials from the ruins of various civil and religious monuments in the city were used in its design.
Elements of Manueline-Mudejar style twin windows were especially used, perhaps because they reflect the romantic imagery associated with the contemplation and nostalgia of the Portuguese Discoveries, and in particular the reign of King Manuel I.
