about_pocityf "Paço a Passo" Circuit
The current building, originally part of the 'Wing of the Queen' and now known as Palácio de D. Manuel, is the most remarkable architectural testimony of the former Royal Palaces of Évora.
The essential part of its construction, designed by the Martim Lourenço master-mason, took place during the reign of King Manuel I, between 1513 and 1516.
The architectural and artistic heritage that is preserved in it, as well as the memories of the Royal Palace that survive in its surrounding area, are an excellent source of historical knowledge of the city's golden period in the 16th century.
Aware of the importance of this cultural legacy, the tourism services of the Évora City Council built this "Paço a Passo", a heritage education project that targets the resident population, tourists and the local and national educational community.
